We started Brisbane Strength & Movement to help as many people become the happiest and healthiest version of themselves; to enable all those we come in contact with the chance to explore their own personal potential.

And by doing so, become better than they were.

Through our progressive strength and conditioning performance coaching we aim to create somewhere where people can come and connect to others while embarking on their own journey of personal transformation. We started Brisbane Strength & Movement with a clear intention in mind. To be able to help as many people as possible become happy and healthy humans. When we think about our evolution as a fitness industry leader, we know that “happy and healthy” was just a starting point.

We also know that happiness isn’t constant and that when we challenge ourselves it is in this process that we can find peace, hence our hashtag, #EmbracetheStruggle.

+ Movement

Encompasses all things physical. It is the foundation and the catalyst to living and looking your best. Our movement practices involve a variety of methods including bodyweight training such as gymnastics foundations and Ido Portal inspired movement, mobility, skill development including weightlifting and Olympic lifting, functional body building, athletic development, strongman, HIIT style training and more.

+ Restoration

Includes all things restorative and recovery for our bodies. This ranges from yoga to icebaths, Wim Hoff breathing techniques to infrared sauna, mobility, stretching and more. We incorporate breathwork protocols to induce both a sympathetic and parasympathetic state to maximise training and recovery, manage stress, and regulate hormones and emotions.

We believe your training environment is one of the most important aspects in performance. At BSM you are surrounded by individuals on the same path to better. Individualisation is incredibly important to us, yet it is our belief in community and connection that is the backbone of our continued forward movement towards true holistic health. Our community environment ensures you are not only supported, but challenged. We will take you out of your comfort zone, but guide you along the way. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”.

At BSM we encourage the adoption of a “Growth Mindset”, with the belief that our most basic abilities can be developed through hard work and commitment. By doing so we embrace the journey over the outcome and work to develop resilience and love for the process to achieve sustainable growth and change. Better is a decision. We all have the ability to achieve what we want if we put our mind to it (and we can help).

+ Nutrition

In terms of general health, nutrition is the foundation. Just as you wouldn’t put 91 fuel in your ferrari, the food you consume is essential to maximising health AND performance. We understand that nutrition can be overwhelming and confusing, so we like to keep it simple at BSM. Our general philosophies around nutrition are; eat whole, real foods. Practice mindful eating. Develop a positive relationship with food. Stay hydrated. Focus on gut health. Make and keep sustainable eating habits. Those looking for more specific guidance around lifestyle, health, performance or sport can see one of our affiliated dietitians.

 
 
 

We are both elite athletes in both rugby (Ezra - former) and basketball (Nat - current)

 
 

Ezra Taylor

Ezra is a retired professional rugby player representing Manu Samoa at the international level as well as professionally for the Otago Highlanders (New Zealand), Queensland Reds (Australia), Connaught (Ireland) & Worcester Warriors (UK). Early retirement from rugby lead to a career in coaching, and BSM was born. Ezra is now a full time coach at BSM and is training to perform a “windmill” dunk by the age 40.   

Ezra has been featured in the Urban List for 2 years straight as one of Brisbane’s top personal trainers.

Natalie Taylor

Nat currently plays for the Brisbane Spartans in the QLD Basketball League as well as for the New Zealand Tall Ferns. She is an Olympian having competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is currently working to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Nat spends most of her time focusing on their two kids (toddler and infant), training, basketball competition and assisting to run BSM.
